Welcome,

Booking Your First Session

If you’re ready to begin counselling, you can book an Initial Counselling Appointment directly through my Jane App Online Booking. This first session is a chance for you to share what’s been happening, what you’d like support with, and to get a feel for my approach. It’s also a time for us both to determine if working together feels like the right fit — because a strong therapeutic match helps ensure you feel safe, supported, and understood. My recommendation is to book a 75-minute intake vs. the 50-minute as most find 50-minutes goes very quickly for the first session, however; the decision is up to you. From there, we can decide on next steps and begin shaping a plan that works for you.

Once you book you will be prompted to fill out my consent, confidentiality forms, and intake form. Please do this after your booking to provide me the time to review your intake form prior to meeting with you. You will be asked to provide a credit card that is left on file for no shows or late cancellations. Payment is done for sessions at the end of our session time and we will discuss method of payment at this time. A receipt is promptly emailed to you after payment has been received.

If you have a question that isn’t answered on my website, you’re welcome to email me. While I’m unable to provide therapy or assessments by email, I’m happy to answer questions you may have about the counselling process.

I look forward to supporting you towards new horizons.

What is a Registered Clinical Counsellor?
Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs) are specifically trained to help people improve and maintain their mental health and well-being. RCCs work with many kinds of people: individuals, couples, and families in individual and group settings. Clinical counselling is typically sought when a person experiences challenging situations, thoughts, feelings, or circumstances.

Scope of Practice
Psychotherapy is the act of assessment, engagement and treatment of cognitive, behavioural, emotional and relational distress and disorder, delivered through structured communication within a psychotherapeutic relationship of care.

In the course of practicing psychotherapy, a person may:

a. assess a client’s behavioural, cognitive, emotional and relational functioning
b. determine a course of care delivered by psychotherapeutic approaches and means
c. engage and treat a client’s distress and disorder of behaviour, cognition, emotion, relationship or other psychologic domain that impairs the subject’s adaptive functioning, wellness and quality of life.

*RCCs do not diagnose or prescribe. Clinical counselling is a partnership between RCC and clients, who work together to reach agreed upon goals and outcomes.

Welcome. I’m so glad you’re found your way here!

Professional Background

I hold a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria. A BC Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) since 2007, I have extensive experience providing counselling, education, and consulting services to individuals through in-person, online, and phone sessions.

I am committed to providing a down-to-earth, therapeutic space where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered as they navigate their personal challenges.

With two decades of experience in clinical practice, I have had the pleasure of working with a diverse range of clients on various issues, however my areas of expertise include:

Women’s Mental/Emotional Health & Wellbeing, Anxiety / Panic / OCD / Phobias, Stress / Burnout, Addiction (substance use & process addictions), Life Transitions, Perimenopause / Menopause, Self-Worth / Self-Compassion, Relationship Challenges, Separation / Divorce, Infertility / Fertility Issues, Body Image / Disordered Eating / Eating Disorders, Perinatal Mental Health, Chronic Pain / Chronic Illness Return-to-Work Focused Assessments and Tx plans, and Loss / Grief.

My Approach to Therapy

My therapeutic approach is integrative and collaborative, combining multiple modalities to best support and suit your journey. Some modalities I incorporate are:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT)
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
  • Solution-Focused Therapy
  • Mindfulness Practices … (among others).

In addition to the above, I draw from neuroscience and trauma-informed perspectives to ensure a deeper understanding of how the brain and body respond to stress, trauma, and change. Recognizing the powerful connection between the mind and body, I incorporate therapies that honor this relationship, fostering holistic wellness & healing.

I also believe in creating an environment of acceptance, where we can incorporate humour when appropriate, and maintain humility as we move through the therapeutic process.

I would describe my style as:

-Authentic

-Approachable

-Empowering

-Compassionate

-Straightforward

-Practical

-Insightful

-Encouraging

Throughout my career, I have also taught university level courses, facilitated psycho-educational groups, and offered group therapy. In recent years, I have also expanded my approach by providing online opportunities for individuals to connect in virtual group settings- an approach that has been found to be a powerful way for support, learning, and sharing to take place.

Working Together

My approach is always focused on empowerment and forward movement—helping you build the skills and confidence to handle life’s challenges with resilience. We’ll work together to create a path that leads you toward the balanced, fulfilling life you’re striving for.

I look forward to connecting and supporting you in your journey.
